As an online business, a website is the most important asset you can own if you want your business to be successful.
Without a website, your business is invisible to the potential customers searching for the types of products or services you offer. Yes, you can make do with a Facebook business page. But I ask you: do you want to leave your business’ content, assets, and connections in someone else’s hands? You don’t have control over whether your business page will be closed if you sink your entire online marketing strategy solely into a Facebook business page. I realize it seems unlikely. But it does happen. Why would you risk losing such a priceless asset by not having complete control over its content, design, assets, email list, connections, etc?
Why is a Business Website So Important?
A website can serve as the hub of your business’ online presence. It provides a place to communicate information about your business, services and products, 24/7. Potential customers are searching for the products and services you offer. If they can’t find your website, they’ll find it elsewhere.
A business website is your home online to share your passion with the world and why you do what you do. Potential customers want to connect with you. They want to find more information about your products or services, and a website is an easy and affordable way to do that. A website can be used to share your knowledge and experience. It can help you position yourself as an expert in your field or niche.
But I’ll be blunt. Simply having a website (any website) isn’t enough. You need a high-quality, professionally designed website in order to present your business, services, and products in the most positive and professional light. The only thing worse than having no website is having a bland, boring, unappealing, unsophisticated, or unprofessional website.
The bottom line is this: if you’re serious about growing an online business or promoting your brick and mortar business online, and you don’t have a professionally designed business website, you are setting yourself up for struggle and failure.
